Here are some important points that should be kept in mind:-
Keep pointed and sharp objects away from your furniture as they can cause scratches.
Never drag your furniture. Always lift the furniture as sliding furniture could hurt the floor with scratches and damage furniture legs by applying too much pressure sideways.
Cleaning your furniture items regularly will help you maintain them for a long time, make sure that you clean your furniture gently with a soft lightly damp cloth; using a rough rag and pressing it hard against the wood might lead to minor scratches.
Do not use excess water to clean your wooden furniture. Water may leave stains and also cause it to swell or warp. In case of a spill on the furniture, never try to wipe it as it will spread the spill and hamper the polish, instead just blot the spill.
To avoid minor scratches which may hamper the finish of your furniture avoid sliding or passing items placed on your table top.
Avoid placing items like burning candles or irons on any furniture as the heat generated from them may affect the life of your furniture in the long run, make use of candle holders to avoid melting wax touching the furniture.
Always use coasters or mats to keep any hot object on the furniture as it may get damaged by causing white rings or spots.
Don't use harsh chemical solutions on your furniture. It can cause patches and color difference.
Never keep nail paint remover, alcohol and other alcoholic solutions near as they tend to harm the finish of the furniture.
It is always advisable to keep your furniture away from direct sunlight. The ultraviolet rays of the sunlight damage the finish of the furniture and can get bleached if exposed regularly.
