Choose your outdoor furniture wisely, depending on the usage and space available.But keep in mind that this furniture will require more care than your indoor furniture since it is out there in every season of the year facing the sun, wind and rains.

Here are some simple to follow steps that will keep your patio furniture in a good condition for a long period of time.

  • 1. Wicker Furniture: It is very important to dust and wipe away all dirt from the furniture. If the dust accumulates on it, the color with finally wither away and quality will also get hampered. Most of the patio furniture can be cleaned with soap and water. Make sure you spray enough water and there is no soap residue. Remove the cushions and covers and wash them with detergent, once a month.
  • 2. Wooden Outdoor Furniture: Furniture quoted with exterior grade varnish can be cleaned using soap and water. But the furniture should be rinsed with clean water afterwards. It should be moved indoors during the winters to prevent chipping.

  • 4. Resin Outdoor Furniture: Easy to maintain, this furniture is the choice of most of the people. It requires cleaning with soap and water. To remove mildew, use a mixture of 1 cup of bleach, 2 cups of detergent and 1 gallon of water.


Make it a point to move the cushions and table clothes inside when not in use. This way you can save them from getting faded. Also try to pull the furniture to shaded area whenever possible to add years to its life.
