Buying Guide - Know about Upholstered Furniture

Upholstery refers to the materials used to stuff and cover seats, couches, chairs, and most furniture that requires cushioning. Upholstery can include a variety of materials - leather and vinyl, foam or cotton padding

Buy comfortable upholstery furniture When adding new upholstered furniture to your place the following two factors should be considered- Style and Comfort.

Upholstered sofas, couches and chairs when displayed in an appealing manner make your drawing and living room look more graceful and classy.

Upholstery and cushioned furniture not only adds style to your decor but also gives you utmost comfort. With its cushiony feel, you can easily sink in and be at comfort with your back, legs and arms completely in rested positions.

In your shopping process, just check out the different styles of furniture that you can consider. Does the furniture really suit the decor? Check out for complimentary or contrasting colored furniture. Will it be as comfortable as you want it to be? As you start narrowing down your selection, compare construction and quality and select the best ones among them.

Here are some points that should be kept in mind before buying upholstered furniture:

  • The quality of wood and the fabric used should be of high quality. Good quality wood would be Oak, Mahogany, Walnut and Ash. If the quality is poor, it may result in splitting and chipping of the frame.
  • Make sure that the upholstered sofa and chairs are not light weighted and shaky. This raises the chances of tripping.
  • Upholstered sofas or couches should not sag in the middle. If not properly cushioned, the furniture will ultimately sag or may even break at the weak point.
  • The coils in the seat of an upholstered piece behave like the box spring in a mattress. They give firmness and stability to the furniture and determine how long will they last. So, make sure that the upholstered furniture has high quality springs to make sure the furniture lasts longer.
  • Check out the types of springs used in its construction. Hand tied coil springs are durable and strongest for sofa and chairs. Steel springs are also sturdy but less durable.

Last but not the least; be sure to take the measurements of the space available at your home. Double check if the furniture you are ordering will fit into your space.
