My Fab Style

The one theme/style that you are hooked on to?
As an artist at heart, I find beauty in all types of architectural and interior design styles. If I had to choose one, I would say I love contemporary style with a minimalistic approach.

What are you most inspired by?
Culture. I love to travel and nothing inspires me more than meeting people from various cultures, understanding the lifestyle and beauty from across the globe. Every culture has a different expression of art and architecture.

If not a designer, what you would be?
I changed my profession to be a designer, so there is no going back on that. Interior design was my calling and I thoroughly enjoy the freedom of expression and excitement in creating wonderful spaces to live and work.

Which city's architecture inspires you?
I traveled to Europe wanting to experience the medieval, gothic and renaissance architectures of cities like Rome, Florence and Venice. But when I got back to India and visited Madurai I was totally amazed by the architecture and history of the city and its temples. Sometimes, you have to cross a thousand miles to realize the beauty of the place where you always belonged.

Where would we find you on a Sunday afternoon?
100% with my family, at home, playing with my daughter.

The drink that you love to hang out with
I am a coffee person, so hanging out with a hot cup of coffee is just perfect.

My Fab Pick

Must-have for every room/house
Storage! No amount of decoration and design can make a cluttered room look great. I am a designer who gives highest importance to keeping a room/house most functional. When you have adequate storage, the space naturally is easy to maintain and all the beautiful objects in it come into focus.

When decorating, where should people splurge and where should they save?
Splurge on the things that would stay in the house for long. Things that don't get replaced very often like sofa, bed, window treatments and hardware/fittings. Because these are also the most functional items and you make use of them on a daily basis, the quality and durability are very important.

Save on art, accessories, rugs and other decorative furniture pieces. This would allow you to change the look and feel of the space often by introducing new items.

Your favorite coffee table book.
I am not much of a book person. I love to hear people talk so rarely do I sit down with a book. Of late, I have been reading some of Jiddu Krishnamurti's books.

Your favorite restaurant
I love theme-based restaurants and those in a natural setup like overlooking the sea.

Color that defines you
Yellow-Fun, warm and cheerful.
